Emails are the most prominent in today’s era and are being use by everyone. To fulfill the need of having an email account, several email service providers have come into existence. Some major giants in the field of email are Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, Verizon Email, and many more.
Verizon email in its old days was the most used email service provider and still there exist several users of it. It was the time of the year 2017 when Verizon email decided to opt-out of the email service and recommended to its users to go with AOL or Yahoo mail. Those who got the email transfer from Verizon email to any of these, are still using the email service. So, for these users, here I am providing server settings (ie. POP, IMAP & SMTP) and along with this, I have covered up the configuration part of Outlook and Gmail using which you can easily access the Verizon email within them without having to face any obstacle.

Do not worry, as the details are provided in a lucid manner and definitely you will not face any difficulty while grasping them. Even if you are an advanced user, you will get to learn a lot while reading the configuration part of Outlook and Gmail.
Server settings like IMAP, SMTP, and POP are used by those who want to use the Verizon email in the email clients like Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and many more. So, whatever email client you are using, you will always be require to enter the details of protocols inside the email client and these details are mention below. But before that, let’s start with a little overview of server settings.
Here find the details.
What are IMAP, POP, and SMTP?
These are also known as server settings and are discuss below to give you the proper idea of what these protocols are all about.
- IMAP or Internet Message Access Protocol is basically used to fetch the emails from the server. Due to it, you are able to browse the emails on the email client. Also, it allows you to use the email client from several accounts i.e. you are not bound to use a single account to access the emails and you can use multiple accounts to access it. IMAP uses two ports basically these are
Port 143 (non-encrypted port)
Port 993 (Secure Port)
- POP or Post Office Protocol is meant to transfer the email from the server to the email client. It is much similar to the IMAP but is different in a way that whenever an email is delete from the email client, it will also be delete from the server. This way the email server remains synced with the email client and you do not have to delete the email on both sides manually. POP is found to use the two protocols and is mention below.
Port 110 (Non-Encrypted Port)
Port 995 (Secure)
- SMTP or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is responsible for sending and receiving the emails. More precisely, this protocol enables an individual to forward and reply to an email. Also, it holds the same importance as the other two i.e. IMAP and POP are having. The ports on which the SMTP works for Verizon are:
Port 25 (Non-Encrypted)
Port 2525 (Non-Encrypted port if port 25 is not working)
Port 465 (Secure Port)
These protocols are categorize into two sections, one is known as incoming server protocol whereas the other is known as the outgoing server protocol. Incoming server protocols constitute POP and IMAP. The outgoing server protocol consists of SMTP.
After having understood the protocols and their port number, let’s dive into the settings that are require the most for setting up the Verizon email in any of the email clients.
